Overview
Cascade is a cross between Fuggles and a Russian hop Serebrianker with a 5.7% alpha acid. Developed in the USDA breeding program in Oregon and was released as a US aroma variety in 1972. Cascade became a well-established variety in the US industry and was the first commercially accepted American-bred aroma hop. It has a medium aroma that is very distinct, and is a very bittering hop used in ales and lagers. Substitutions Centennial, Amarillo and Columbus
