Mt. Hood is an aroma variety released in 1989 from the U.S.D.A. breeding program in Oregon. The variety is a daughter of Hallertauer Mittel-frueh and a sister to Liberty. It has low aplhpa and beta acid contents. It has a mild aroma.

Description
Pedigree is a triploid seedling of the German Hallertauer variety. Maturity Early to mid-season. Yield 1700 - 2200 kg./ha. or 1520 - 1960 lb./ac. Growth Habit Fairly vigorous but manageable. Disease/Pest Susceptibility Moderately resistant to downy mildew. Pickability/Drying/Baling Good. Cone-Structure Medium-size and fairly compact. Lupulin Moderate amount, yellow in color, Aroma Mild, somewhat pungent. Alpha Acid 5.0 - 8.0% w/w. Beta Acid 5.0 - 7.5% w/w
Cohumulone 22 - 23% of alpha acids. Storageability 50 - 60% alpha acid remaining after 6 months storage at 20°C. Total Oil 1.0 - 1.3 mls/100 grams. Myrcene 55 - 65% of whole oil. Humulene 15 - 25% of whole oil. Carophyllene 7 - 10% of whole oil. Farnesene <1% of whole oil.
